An anime movie aired in 1988. The story is set during the Second World War and shows the struggle of a boy who after losing his parents tries to survive the horrors of the war with his four-year sister. This is one of most mature and heart breaking anime I have ever watched. The brutal reality was shown with such precision that it’ll bring tears to your eyes. There are many people who say anime is for kids, well just show them this anime, I’m quite sure this will change their opinion entirely.

The 1993 anime series, probably the very first anime that made people love the sports anime genre. Based on basketball, the story revolves around a high school student Hanamichi Sakuragi. Being a delinquent and the leader of a gang, Sakuragi is very unpopular with girls. But when he meets Haruko Akagi, in order to impress her he joins the Shohoku basketball team. Despite his extreme immaturity and fiery temper, Sakuragi proves to be a natural athlete and soon realizes that he truly loves the sport. Almost at the same time Kaede Rukawa, Sakiragi’s river for Haruko’s love, Hisashi Mitsui, a skilled three-point shooter and Ryota Miyagi, a short but fast point guard joins the team and the four of them struggle to make their team the best.

If you are into sports anime then it is one of the best and most realistic sports anime ever.

5. Neon Genesis Evangelion:

One of the classic Mecha anime that has won hundreds of hearts over the course of more than two decades. The show was released in 1995 and easily become one of the best anime of that year. Once again this anime is set in the future too and a science fiction anime. The main story revolves around Shinji, a teenager who was recruited by his father in the organization Nerv to pilot a Bio-machine called in combat against Angels. The series explores the emotionsĀ and experiences Nerv’s members as they try to prevent another catastrophe.

This anime has only 26 episodes. Over the years the quality and animation of Mecha anime have significantly improved so now it may seem like a ‘same old mecha anime’ but don’t forget that this anime is the one from which a lot of today’s mecha anime are inspired. If you are a mecha fan then I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

One of the underrated anime released in 1998. At the beginning, it was not very popular but time did justice to this anime and over the years this anime has become pretty popular. revolves around a man known as ” and two other employees, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, who follow him around in order to minimize the damages inevitably caused by his appearance. But Vash’s most of the damage is actually caused by bounty hunters, who are trying to grab the sixty billion double dollar bounty on Vash’s head for destroying the city of July. Vash cannot remember the incident due to retrograde amnesia, he can only recall fragments of the destroyed city and memories of his childhood. Throughout his travels, Vash tries to save lives using non-lethal force. As the series progresses mysteries around Vash is revealed.

The series contains 26 episodes. A really good series I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
